The Garrotxa is situated on the north of Catalonia. Its capital is Olot.It is situated in an area with many extinct volcanoes, lying within the protected area of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Area of the Garrotxa. The urban area includes two volcanic craters.

It has a lot of natural parks. The most important park covers an area of 119 square kilometres, of which 9 square kilometres belong to the twenty-five nature reserves which protect the best preserved volcanic cones, as well as the famous beech forest of La Fageda d'en Jordà.

Volcanic Kitchen, was born in September 1994 at the Second Congress of Catalan cuisine and is a mark that identifies dishes made with unique products that are made in a land of unique characteristics in Catalonia: the volcanic soil of the Garrotxa.
Over time, the Volcanic Kitchen has established itself as a quality cuisine, creative and diverse. The question is to collect the plates and modernize always, ultimately, put the garrotxí landscape in the casserole.

BIKE TOURS

La Garrotxa is one of the best places for bike touring in Catalonia. Olot is a key location, since it is necessary to pass through it to connect the Via verda del Ferro with the Via Verda del Carrilet. In fact, it is the recommended starting point for the Via Verda del Carrilet, since a good section of the route to Girona is downhill.Olot also has several bike touring routes around the city, and Besalú has the Anella Verda (Green Ring), a wide pathway on the banks of the river Fluvià that is suitable for cycling along.

Internacional Festival of Music and Dance

Ésdansa, the Internacional Festival of Music and Dance of Les Preses, has consolidated, along the time, like one of the events of popular traditional culture most important of Catalonia, with a great infrastructure and quality shows. Ésdansa, between spectators, artists and organization, moves near of 10,000 people: more of 8000 spectators, more of 400 artists and 200 volunteers in the organization.

ROMANESQUE ROUTES

The Romanesque architecture is very rich and includes some of the most important works of the Romanic in the Girona area. There are a lot of routes for visditing them.
What is the county like? What can be found there? The various cultural areas open to the public explain about the environment, the territory it's in and make a good starting point for visitors.

- Santa Maria de Segueró Romanic church with a single nave built in the 11th century. It has an eccentric apse and a work of fortification over the front door.
- Sant Feliu de Beuda Romanic church from the 11th century. The severity of the façade, the main door with three declining archs, in the central arch there are two columns decorated with their respective capitals.
- Castellot: Near the road from Beuda up to the Mare de Déu del Mont, near the "masía" (farmhouse) of Can Oliveres, you can find the remains of the Castellot or Castillo de los Moros from the year 1000. they are very interesting to visit.

Flight in a hot air balloon over La Garrotxa is a unique experience suitable for all ages.

Balloon flights take off early in the morning. The flight lasts between 1 h and 1 h 30 min, and includes cava and coca ( typical food).
